DENVER - On Sunday singer, actor and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte visited Denver.
He was in town to help give out scholarships through the Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Colorado Holiday Commission.
It is a special moment in time for the civil rights movement.
This July 2 is the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
"I think the single greatest component of the period in which I grew up in, and was blessed to be able to contribute, we were made up of a community of people touched by great courage," Belafonte said.
Belafonte helped present scholarships Sunday night to 9 Colorado high school students.
